Abstract :
The rheological behavior of nylon 6/11 was investigated using XYL-II capillary rheometer. The experimental results indicated that both nylon 11 and nylon 6/11 melts were pseudoplastic and exhibited shear-thinning behavior. The weight fractions (ϕC) of caprolactam had a similar influence on the shear stress (τw) at fixed shear rate (γw) and apparent viscosity (ηa), both τw at fixed γw and ηa reached their maximum when ϕC = 15 wt%. The reduction of the viscous activation energy with the increase of shear stress reflected that nylon 6/11 can be processed over a wider temperature at a constant shear stress.
