Abstract :
Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of a API X-60 pipeline steel in a soil containing 33% water has been investigated using slow strain rate tests and sustained load test of single-edge cracked sample. The results showed that a transgranular SCC in the soil occurred when ε ˙ ≤ 3.5 × 10 − 7   s − 1 , and the susceptibility to SCC was about 30%. SCC of the cracked sample in the soil at sustained load could also occur, and the threshold stress intensity factor of SCC was KISCC = 0.73KC.
