Abstract :
The acoustic emission response during tension of salt-replicated aluminium foams of different pore-sizes and different cell-edge materials was recorded and evaluated with respect to the controlling deformation processes. For foams with pore-size of about 3.5 mm, the deformation is controlled rather by the structure (pore-size and cell-edge thickness) and not by the cell-edge material, while for foams with pore-size of about 1.5 mm, the effect of the constitutive material is important.
