Modelisation of plastic deformation of nanocrystalline solids-IA-166

Emphasis is put on the importance of analyzing properly the elastic–plastic transition in order to describe the mechanical properties of nanograined polycrystals. Specific constraints resulting from the imposed small-length scale, and of the shape of the specimens are discussed. The need for new paradigms adapted to this specific situation is discussed.
