Abstract :
The elastic strain of both phases of a superalloy are measured by high-resolution in situ diffraction experiments done at 1070 °C, under variable stress from 0 to 300 MPa, on a specimen with a raft microstructure. The Young modulus can be evaluated, and the stresses and strain rates of both phases can then be calculated with a good precision. Between the pre-strain stress and the maximum stress, the effective stress within the γ phase remains at a constant level, just enough to allow dislocation glide within the rafts.
