Abstract
It would be possible to produce nanostructured systems via dynamic consolidation due to the short duration. In the study, the bulk W–25%Cu nanocomposites were fabricated by the technique of dynamic consolidation. The nanostructured W–Cu powder was prepared by hydrogen-reduction of ball-milled W and CuO. The results indicated that the consolidated composites had a final density of 97.6% T.D. and the W crystalline sizes were measured as 27 nm. The W–Cu composites showed the homogeneous microstructure and were composed entirely of W and Cu. The fracture surface was analyzed by SEM and showed intergranular fracture. The hardness was measured. It is proved that it is feasible to fabricate nanostructured W–Cu composites by dynamic consolidation.
