Abstract :
Microstructural evolution during friction stir welding of Ti–15V–3Cr–3Al–3Sn metastable-β titanium alloy was studied. Development of the grain structure was found to be mainly governed by discontinuous recrystallization. The textural pattern formed in the stir zone was shown to be a mixture of 1 1 1 and 1 1 0 simple shear fiber textures.
