Abstract :
Cadmium telluride (CdTe), being a rather high atomic number and wide bandgap semiconductor, makes possible the manufacturing of small-sized efficient gamma-ray spectrometers. When combined with new detector manufacturing procedures and associated to modern hybrid electronics, it becomes possible to manufacture very small-sized nuclear probes. This paper deals with both the development of the probes and their capabilities in gamma-ray spectrometry.
