Abstract :
The contribution of twinning and slip to the evolution of texture and microstructure during large strain hot rolling of magnesium alloy ME20 was investigated using X-ray and EBSD analysis. The results indicate that a very sharp basal texture formed with initial basal texture (type 1), and the texture intensity increases with rising of the deformation amount. The lattice reorientation of 86° caused by tension twinning has a large influence on the deformation behavior in the incipient stage with initial off-basal texture samples (types 2 and 3). At heavy deformation, basal and prismatic 〈 a 〉 slip systems as well as shear bands are active. The texture simulation was performed using a grain interaction Taylor model, based on different combinations of four slip modes and one twinning mode.
