Design and tests for the fast Faraday cup of the ALPI post-accelerator

This paper describes the design of the coaxial and strip-line fast Faraday cup as a tool, with an appropriate broadband amplifier and a sampling oscilloscope, to determine the bunch length down to 200 ps FWHM. Some beam tests and the preliminary results for the beam energy measurement with the same detector are also reported.
