Abstract
The paper discusses the possibility of a smooth variation of accelerated particle energy in the interdigital H-structure. The problem is demonstrated to be solved by forming the peculiar accelerating field distribution required for the given ion energy value. This is attained by compensating the field regions, as the modes, whose frequencies lie in the lower part of the dispersion spectrum, interact with the field of a passive resonant system (the end resonant tuning element, the quarter-wavelength post). Comparison is made with the solution of a similar problem in the Alvarez accelerating structure.
