Abstract :
MSGCs using a diamond-like under coating were developed for HERA-B. They show severe operational problems when used in intense hadron beams. A new type of MSGC using the Gas Electron Multiplier as internal preamplifier was therefore developed. Recent test measurements show their impressive capability to fulfil the HERA-B requirements.
