Abstract
Most calorimeter systems used in particle physics are longitudinally segmented in two or more compartments. The intercalibration of these compartments is highly non-trivial, as a result of two effects: (1) The dependence of the calorimeter response on the type of showering particle, and on its energy. (2) The depth dependent sampling fraction in showers.
ety of methods that are used in practice to deal with these problems are reviewed. The (lack of) merits of these methods are discussed.
