Abstract
The Outer Tracker System of HERA-B consists of large planar drift chambers made out of honeycomb drift tubes. The detector operates in a new regime of high particles fluxes. The detector requirements and design are summarized. Special emphasis is given to the results of an intense aging R&D program performed with honeycomb drift tubes in CF4 based drift gases.
