Abstract :
A computer-code package handling geometry descriptions exported from Computer-Aided Design (CAD) applications has been developed for use in Monte Carlo (MC) simulation of particle transport. This package is intended to replace the part of some MC codes that process the geometry information. The geometric objects in the CAD description are approximated by a triangle mesh allowing the implementation of several speed optimization algorithms. This package dramatically simplifies the preparation of MC simulations for complex geometric systems with a large number of objects or with complicated shapes. The system has been successfully tested with the MC code PENELOPE.
