Application of a portable pulsed magnet to magneto-spectroscopy using FEL

A very small pulsed high magnetic field generator that can be applicable to magneto-spectroscopy using a free electron laser (FEL) has been developed. Although, it is generally difficult to perform a high magnetic field experiment over 20 T since high electric power and large space are required, we can make it rather easy by this small pulsed magnet system. We have made magneto-transmission experiment using a millimeter wave coherent radiation from a linear accelerator and observed the electron spin resonance. Possible study using a combination of the pulsed magnet and a FEL in the terahertz range is also discussed.
