Algorithms for the analysis of -decay total absorption spectra

The method of analysis of total absorption γ -ray spectra obtained in β -decay measurements is studied. The analysis problem is reduced to the solution of a linear inverse problem. The performance and systematic uncertainties of different inverse algorithms are studied. The maximum entropy and the expectation-maximisation algorithms are found to be superior to the linear regularisation method.
