Abstract
Recent advances in high-energy physics have uttered the need for silicon detectors with a minimised dead volume at their physical edge. Such devices will be used in the TOTEM experiment (Total and Elastic Cross-section Measurement) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). A hypothetical structure of such detectors has been implemented into the ISE-TCAD simulation package by Synopsys and macroscopic quantities such as detector leakage current and charge collection efficiency have been computed and successfully compared to experimental values, yielding a better insight into the microscopic structure of these devices.
