Abstract
The interaction of charged particles with a Hermite–Gaussian laser beam is numerically and analytically investigated for linear and circular polarizations. The electron final energy is obtained as a function of the laser parameter (polarization, waist and intensity) and the electron parameter (initial injection energy and initial coordinate, ( z 0 ) ). The energy gain increases with increase in laser beam waist and laser intensity. For relativistic electrons and laser intensities I 0 ∼ 10 20 – 10 21 W / cm 2 an increase in electron energy Δ ɛ ∼ ( 10 – 20 ) GeV can be attained.
