Combined wind and ice loads from historical extreme wind and ice data

There are several approaches in the design codes to calculate wind-on-ice loads from meteorological data. One of these approaches utilizes various combinations of available extreme wind and ice data to calculate wind-on-ice loads. In this paper, a comprehensive procedure is proposed to determine the appropriate combination of annual extreme wind and ice values for calculating wind-on-ice loads on transmission line conductors. The preliminary work that is being carried out is described with some initial findings.
