Abstract :
Using a non-local stellar convection theory for chemically inhomogeneous stars, we have calculated the lithium and beryllium depletions in mainsequence models of 0.7-1.15 M ⊙ and have compared them with the observed depletions in open clusters of different ages. The results show that the general properties of lithium depletion in late type main-sequence stars with Teff < 5900K can be reproduced by convective overshooting mixing. We conclude that convective overshooting could be an important mechanism for the lithium depletion observed in late-type dwarfs.
