Abstract :
The effect of deformation on the martensitic transformation and its reverse transformation is studied. It is found that the starting temperature of martensitic transformation (Ms) increases linearly and the starting temperature of martensitic reverse transformation (As) decreases linearly with the strain of predeformation εp, revealing that deformation catalyzes both martensitic and reverse transformations. The relation between Ms and εp as well as As and εp are obtained as follows: Ms = Ms(0) + 10.77εp, and As = As(0) − 4.77εp. The mechanism of catalysis of deformation is discussed.
