Abstract :
Acoustical microscopes are standard instruments for investigating and characterizing technical surfaces, but until now they are not convenient for a quantitative roughness inspection. Analysing a few slightly defocused acoustical images by some adapted image processing opens a new, fast and easy to use possibility to measure the integral surface roughness with high accuracy.
