Abstract :
The characterization of phases in a ternary Al–Pd–Rh complex metallic alloy annealed at 1100 °C for 49 h before (original state) and after differential thermal analysis was performed. In the investigation, light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, wavelength dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and differential thermal analysis were used. The dominant constituent in the original state was characterized as ε-phase. The minor constituent was attributed to the additionally solidified liquid co-existing with ε-phase at 1100 °C. After differential thermal analysis, the microstructure of the alloy was composed of the matrix ε-phase and the areas of the creek-type morphology.
