Geomechanics issues related to long-term isolation of nuclear waste

A short review of current geomechanics issues is presented with respect to nuclear waste isolation in salt, clay, granite and volcanic tuff. Mention of the significance of regional seismicity is followed by examination of the importance of the disturbed rock zone (DRZ) in each rock type. To cite this article: C. Fairhurst, C. R.
