Abstract
Chemically structured surfaces are discussed which consist of patterns of lyophilic and lyophobic surface domains. Wetting layers on top of these surfaces attain a variety of morphologies and undergo morphological wetting transitions. One convenient way to explore these transitions experimentally is by changing the total volume of the wetting layer.
