A comparison of the G-mode and the three-parameter asteroid taxonomic classification techniques using a common data set

A comparison of the G-mode (Barucci et al., Icarus 72, 304, 1987) and three-parameter (Tedesco et al., Astron. J. 97, 580, 1989) asteroid taxonomic classification systems is presented. Using a common data set we demonstrate that, at a 94% confidence level, the two methods yield the same classifications. We discuss the significance and future application of this result.
