Abstract :
In spite of significant developments made in turbulent boundary layer research over the years, our understanding of particle interactions with organized flow configurations (coherent structures) and their implications for mechanics of bedform development is far from completion. Researchers have made sincere efforts to obtain fundamental understanding of bedform mechanics through theoretical and experimental studies supplemented by field observations. A brief outline emphasising the nature of recent advancements and their consequences in sediment transport and bedform mechanics in aqueous environment under unidirectional current is given in this paper.
