The fracture behaviour of a welded tubular joint—an ESIS TCI-3 round robin on failure assessment methods Part II: R6 analysis

Experimental test data on defective welded tubular T-joints have been reported in the literature. In this paper, the R6 procedures are applied to the experimental geometry and the maximum load carrying capacity evaluated. It is shown that R6 predicts that the failure of the joint is dominated by plastic collapse considerations and occurs at a load close to that determined experimentally.
