Abstract
The Shisanling Pumped Storage Power Station is the first of this kind in China. The geological conditions thereat are complex. There are four principal engineering geological problems that are related to the project: site selection of the underground powerhouse, leakage in the lower reservoir, collapse in the penstock tunnel, and stability of the west slope of the upper reservoir. In this paper, these problems and relevant counter measures are briefly introduced.
