European technology activities to prepare for ITER component procurement

The ITER international fusion energy project is ready to start the construction phase of the ITER machine to demonstrate the scientific and technical feasibility of fusion power production. This paper describes the status of the ITER design and R&D activities developed in Europe highlighting the major achievements in the area of Vacuum Vessel (VV), First Wall (FW), Shield Blanket, Divertor, Magnets, Remote Handling (RL), ITER diagnostic, Heating and Current Drive Systems and Vacuum Pumping and Fuelling in preparation of the European ITER component procurement.
