Abstract
This paper describes the analyses performed to investigate and validate the proposed design for the updated JET MKIII duct side liner, which will replace the present inertial cooled one in the frame of the EP2 neutral beam enhancement project.
ermal-hydraulic and thermo-mechanical performance of a duct linerʹs generic module, under various loading scenarios has been assessed. Due to difference in scale between a generic liner module length and the relevant load bearing section thickness (∼1.2 m against 4 mm) two different scale FE models have been assessed, the first ones to evaluate the overall reactions and displacements and the others to calculate concentrated stresses in the most loaded sections.
mity to ITER design criteria has been verified for both monotonic and cyclic loads. The effects of fatigue have been considered and an operational life of 8.5 years is predicted for the liner.
