Abstract :
In the first set of ITER divertor, the bottom segment of the inner and outer vertical target consists of the carbon-fiber-reinforced composite monoblock, the interlayer of the oxygen-free high-conductivity Cu and the cooling tube. In this part of the divertor, the capability to remove the high heat flux up to 20 MW/m2 has to be provided. Therefore, the method of performance estimation for the outer vertical target is one of the key issues in procurement of the actual equipment. Non-destructive examination with the infrared thermography is required as one of the performance tests to detect the overall defect in the monoblock. In this study, the thermographic examinations for the outer vertical target of qualification prototype have been performed by the facility of infrared non-destructive examination for divertor (FIND) built in the Japan Atomic Energy Agency. The profile of the maximum temperature difference in FIND corresponds to that of the surface temperature of the monoblock in the high heat flux testing in Russian Federation. It indicates that FIND is able to predict the position of maximum temperature in the high heat flux testing.
