Abstract
Final beam transport and focusing are key issues of the study group for a heavy ion ignition facility. Fundamental investigations on a technically and financially feasible beam guiding and focusing system have been started. By applying high current pulsed, iron-free quadrupole magnets it seems to be possible to overcome crucial problems in the final focusing.
