Energy deposition in heavy-ion fusion converters

At concentrations relevant to heavy-ion inertial confinement fusion converters, the seed atoms that are used to optimize the converter radiative properties may have a non-negligible effect on the charge state of the beam ions. This can result in range lengthening compared with pure low-Z converters. Calculations of this effect are presented.
