Abstract :
Three methods of plasma boundary determination from external magnetic measurements have been optimized and examined in numerical experiments for application to the ITER tokamak, namely the variable current filament, fixed current filament and local field expansion methods. In the absence of measurement errors the absolute error in the determination of the plasma boundary is less than 1 cm.
