Abstract :
Radiative heat transfer of the torus plasma in a large helical device for the research of a fusion reactor is analyzed, in which the plasma is approximated as a gray participating medium and a black, specular or diffuse surface is assumed for the wall of vacuum chamber. A generalized numerical method: the Radiation Element Method by Ray Emission Mode, (REM2), is used. Arbitrary thermal conditions can be specified for each radiation element in REM2. The effects of heat generation distribution in the plasma and radiative properties of the vacuum chamber wall on the distributions of plasma temperature and surface heat flux on the vacuum chamber wall are investigated for wide ranges of optical thickness of the plasma. Dimensionless expressions for the distributions of plasma temperature and surface heat flux are considered. Maximum heat fluxes on the vacuum chamber wall are estimated.
