Abstract
The basic concepts of de-coupling control by output feedback are discussed and applied to the design of the plasma magnetic control system in International thermonuclear experimental reactor (ITER). The results presented indicate that this approach provides an easy and effective route to the design of feedback controllers provided that a large frequency separation is kept between the slowest eddy current modes decay rate and the closed-loop poles.
