Woodley et al. (2013) noted an increasing trend in reported values of visual reaction times collected over 115 years and concluded that it indicated a decline of intelligence over that period. But because visual reaction times vary with a great many factors in addition to intelligence (notably stimulus luminance) that inference is underdetermined.
