Abstract :
A new effort to improve the prediction of turbulence and heat transfer in the recirculating region behind an obstacle by a second moment closure is discussed. A novel rapid pressure–diffusion model is included in a low Reynolds number two-component-limit second moment closure based on Craft and Launder [Int. J. Heat Fluid Flow 17 (1996) 245]. The higher-order GGDH for turbulent heat flux of Suga and Abe [Int. J. Heat Fluid Flow 21 (2000) 37] is employed for the thermal field computation. Encouraging results are obtained for both turbulence and heat transfer fields though some margins to be improved still remain.
