Pembelajaran Geografi sebagai Salah Satu Dasar Pembentukan Karakter Bangsa

ABSTRACT: “Teaching Geography as One of the Formation Basis for National Character Building”. National education is a conscious effort to build a culture and character of the Indonesian nation. Likewise with the geography education. So, geography education is a science to support the lifelong and boost life. Therefore, teaching and learning geography are directed to develop character students to love to their country. Research objectives are: to analyze the geography teachers’ knowledge of SMD3T (Educating Scholars at the Regional Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged)’s program; to analyze measures the SMD3T geography teachers in instilling a love of Indonesia country; and to analyze the form of barriers in the learning process of geography in instilling character love to their country. This research uses descriptive method. Population and sample totaled 19 SMD3T geography teachers using a questionnaire accompanied by interviews. The analysis technique is done by using a percentage and qualitative explanation. The process of learning geography shows that teacher knowledge of NR (Natural Resources) is generally good and in the process of learning the geography needs for interaction of teachers and learners. In instill the character has to be supported by adequate instructional media. Obstacles encountered in the learning process of geography are obstacles related to media that can be used to convey messages of geographical understanding.
