Abstract :
The study is undertaken on Dierential Quadrature Method (DQM) with the
aim of developing a 1-D numerical analysis of the
ow over side-weirs. The numerical results
were compared with relevant experimental data for both the simple and labyrinth side-weirs.
The results showed that the numerical methodology can eectively predict the discharge
and
ow prole associated with labyrinth side-weirs. Deviation (from experimental data)
was found not exceeding 4.5%. Furthermore, the contributions of dierent terms of the
governing equation were assessed through a comprehensive sensitivity analysis. The results
show that in order to simplify the governing equation, the channel slope and the friction
slope can be eliminated.
