Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn (son of) Zakariya Razi (Rhazes), (Figure 1), the great Iranian physician, philosopher, and scientist, known by some as the Arab Galen, was bom in about 865 A.D. in Rey (south of modem Tehran) and died around 925 A.D. in the same city where he was bom.
