Cross-linguistic Variations of pro Licensing Conditions

Null subject languages are generally called prodrop languages. According to the generative syntactic analysis, languages can be divided into prodrop and nonprodrop languages. Subject Agreement (AgrS) is argued to be the licensing condition for the null subject languages. Nevertheless, prodrop licensing conditions may vary in different languages. This paper analyzes various null subject languages with different prodrop licensing conditions from crosslinguistic perspective.
