Abstract :
he subject of this paper is the story of an ancient medical instrument. This instrument is a wooden vaginal speculum used in classical and Islamic medicine. Its drawings can be found in Abulcasis al-Zahrawis and Şerefeddin Sabuncuoğlus illustrated books of surgery.
