Performance Review: Muzikal Tun Mahathir First Season

The first season of Muzikal Tun Mahathir (MTMmp) was premiered at Istana Budaya from the 24th of September to the 9th of October 2010. This musical was written by Ismail Kassan and was directed by Rosminah Tahir. In the perspective of a theatre performance this production failed to achieve its performance objective as expected by the Director General of Istana Budaya, its production patron as well as the Minister of Information, Communication and Culture of Malaysia. This article will review MTMmp by applying drama genre as an analysis tool to identify factors that had contributed to the failure of this musical in highlighting and portraying Tun Dr. Mahathir as a statesman.
