SIMPLE SINGULARITIES AND SIMPLE LIE ALGEBRAS

In this survey article, we summarize the Grothendieck’s conjectures relating simple singularities of surfaces and the geometry of finite dimensional complex simple Lie algebras. We also present the research works on the subject up to date with a list of references that can guide a beginner in the subject.
