Abstract :
This study was conducted in three habitat gradients; the rubber plantation, forest edge and rainforest of Sungkai Wildlife Reserve, Perak. A total of 157 individuals from 37 species (19 families) were captured. The number of individuals captured in three different habitats was different significantly (G =24.2, P 0.001, df = 2). The most dominant species captured in these three habitats was the Little Spiderhunter (Arachnothera longirostra) with 29 individuals (18.3%). The most dominant family with the highest number of species and individuals was Pycnonotidae with 8 species (21.6%) and 38 individuals (24.4%). Three species were found in all three habitats while 6 species were only found in primary forest and forest edge, and 5 species were found in forest edge and rubber plantation. These results suggested the existence of resources utilisation in different habitats among certain bird species. Furthermore, 10 bird feeding guilds were indentified in this study site. The most dominant group was the insectivore-frugivore (IF) in term of species and individual count with 9 species and 39 individuals, respectively.
