Abstract
Developments during the past decade in biochemistry, physical chemistry, microscopy and engineering have resulted in a tremendous upsurge of interest in the properties of very small particles and their possible application for a wide range of industrial and consumer sectors. The potential of nanotechnology to revolutionize the health care, textile, materials, information and communication technology and energy sectors has been well publicized. In fact several products enabled by nanotechnology are already in the market. As in other sectors, the advent of nanotechnology promises to revolutionize the development of products and applications in agriculture. Researchers in universities are now investigating possible application for using nanotechnology in agriculture, this aspect is still in infancy and requires attention of the scientific fraternity for its widespread use to harness its potential benefits. In the present paper a review in the application of nanotechnology in agriculture is presented.
