Abstract :
A series of 28 patients aged from 18 to 52 years (average 32.5 years) with femoral neck fractures were fixed by DHS. All the fractures were displaced (Garden III and IV). Appropriate closed reduction was obtained in 24 patients and in 4 patients anterior capsulotomy was necessary to ensure fracture reduction. A modified technique for closed reduction and grafting under X-ray control is described. Partial weight bearing was allowed from the second post operative day. The patients were reviewed for 12-30 months. Fracture union was achieved in 23 patients (82%) and 3 patients (11%) developed avascular necrosis.
